DESCRIPTION:\n\nDo you face open data aspects in your daily work? Would yo
u like to learn more about the latest open data products and networks? Are
you looking for networking opportunities with members of the open sustain
ability ecosystem around Brightway and open data for sustainability? You d
on’t need to be a programmer\, Brightcon is for everyone enthusiastic ab
out open sustainability! \n\n \nBrightcon is a conference series which h
as originated from discussing developments of the open source LCA software
"Brightway" and has gradually opened up to the whole ecosystem of open so
urce tools and data used for LCA and (environmental) sustainability calcul
ations. \nThe program includes reserved slots for presentations of open d
atasets\, tools for harmonising and maintaining data\, and community sessi
ons to make open data a norm in sustainability assessment. \nBrightcon 20
26 encompasses three events:\n\nHackathon on Monday and Tuesday (21. and 2
2.9.2026\, physical)\, where everyone is invited to join forces to code on
a defined topic\, or to improve documentation of existing tools and data.
Kick-off: We invite all participants to join us for an informal icebreaki
ng gathering on the late afternoon or evening of Sunday\, 20.9.2026.\nCou
rses for open source packages on Tuesday (22.9.2026\, physical). Please n
ote that course access is reserved for conference attendees\, i.e. it is n
ot possible to register only for a course. \nThe conference from Wednesda
 y to Friday (23. to 25.09.2026\, hybrid)\n\nThis year’s theme is "Collab
oration: Mixing Tools\, Data and People" We believe that the biggest chall
enges in sustainability assessment cannot be solved in isolation. Brightco
n 2026 focuses on fostering interdisciplinary exchange\, breaking down sil
os between academic research and industrial applications\, and ensuring we
don't "reinvent the wheel" behind closed doors. Whether you are contribut
ing code\, sharing open data\, or applying tools in a consultancy setting\
, your contribution is part of a larger\, collective effort. Explore our S
ession Tracks to see how your work fits into our discussions\, and visit t
he Call for Abstracts page to submit your proposal and join the conversati
on.\nBrightcon 2026 is hosted by Aalborg University\, Denmark and organise
 d by Départ de Sentier.\n\nhttps://indico.d-d-s.ch/event/2/
